Determining Keywords (Page 2)

Before writing any content for your Website, you want to brainstorm roughly 3 Keyword Phrases that would be target words to describe your business or personal Website. I recommend using scratch paper and jotting down several possibilities (I usually come up with 7 to 10) and when finished ask several others what they think would fit your area of expertise the best.

Keyword Phrases should be between 2 and 4 words. For example if I just used the word Web Design as my keyword phrase, it would be near impossible to gain rank and show up on the first page of search engines because it's to broad of a topic. For instance, am I a Web Designer and need help with Web Design or am I a prospector looking for a company to do Web Design for me.

That's why depending on your target field you might need more than 2 words for your Key Terms. For example I might use Business Web Design, Custom Web Design or Flawless Web Design.

It is beneficial to do research in Search Engines to see what results you get from a specific Keyword Phrase. For example, I would go to Google.com and type Web Design and see what results show up on the first 2 pages. You would notice results display for websites that both give help to Designers, and results for companies who Design Websites for others.

This part of the whole Personal and/or Business Layout is definitely an area that can be tedious and is certainly important - so don't rush it.

You determine your Keywords first because you will integrate them throughout your whole website appropriately as you write your content. If you have any questions about this area please feel free to Contact Me. I also offer a Keyword Research Service that will determine phrases you could use by researching competitor websites.
